Friday, November 19, 2010 – The Ministry of Health says it remains committed to providing comprehensive health services and coverage to the public despite several challenges posed by the recent passage of Tomas.
Health Minister Honourable Dr Keith Mondesir says the availability of water continues to be a major challenge but the health sector is receiving the support of WASCO and some private partners to ensure that there is potable water at the various health facilities.
“Our manpower at the various health institutions have been fine. The only problem we have right now is with regard to the water shortage like everyone else but we have been dispensing water to all the hospitals and health facilities with the assistance of Hess, the Hill Twenty intake and even from Sandals because they have a desalination plant, but we are conserving the water supply as best as we can and all the facilities are on full alert”.
Dr. Mondesir has praised the staff of the various health institutions for remaining committed to serving the public in face of numerous constraints.
He said despite staff having varying domestic situations they continue to serve with the highest level of professionalism.
Dr Mondesir thanked the general public for their cooperation and understanding. |
