Thursday 28 October 2010  Saint Lucia's Governor General, Her Excellency, Dame Pearlette Louisy, leaves the island on Saturday October 30, as the head of a seven-member delegation paying an official visit to Taiwan.

The visit by the Head of State—at the invitation of the government and people of Taiwan—follows the visit to Saint Lucia last month by the Taiwanese Foreign Affairs Minister, Timothy Yang and Prime Minister Stephenson King's trip to Asia earlier this year.

During the four day visit, H. E.  Dame Pearlette Louisy, will visit several historical, scenic and educational sites in Taiwan.  Among the institutions and places she is expected to visit are the Taichung District Agricultural Research and Extension Station, Taipei Kai-Ping Culinary School and the National Open University.

As the Republic of China on Taiwan prepares to celebrate its 100th anniversary of Independence with a year long calendar of activities, the delegation has been invited to attend the Opening Ceremony of the Taipei International Floral Exposition of which over forty countries will participate.

Her Excellency will also meet the Saint Lucian students studying in Taiwan as well as some senior Taiwanese government officials including President Ying-Jeou MA.

The delegation returns to Saint Lucia on Saturday November 6, 2010.
