Thursday, February 18, 2010 – The operations and challenges of manufacturers around the island will receive focus as the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Consumer Affairs embarks on a series of tours. The exercise is in keeping with the ministry's commitment to assist with the development of the manufacturing sector.
The fact-finding initiative follows a meeting with members of the manufacturers association.
The minister responsible for Commerce, Industry, and Consumer Affairs, Senator the Honourable Tessa Mangal, will lead two missions next week, in an effort to address the needs of its business clients more effectively.
“After having a series of meetings with the manufactures association to deal with various issues pertaining to how they want to reposition, we at the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Consumer Affairs have decided to visit a number of manufacturing plants both in the north and south of the island, to get a better appreciation of the operations in the manufacturing sector to ensure that the sector’s needs are being met and that we target our responses to the needs in a more effective and efficient manner.”
Minister Mangal and a delegation comprising the permanent secretary and other technocrats in the ministry will embark on the first leg of the fact-finding mission on Wednesday 24th of February with visits to manufacturing plants in the north.
The team will travel to the south of the island on Thursday 25th of February to conduct similar visits at various manufacturing plants. |
