Monday, February 1, 2010 – Primary school students are warming up for the annual science fair which is slated for month end. Currently, the primary schools' science and technology quiz is now ongoing at the district level.
Curriculum Officer for Natural Science, in the Ministry of Education and Culture Mottilal Singh, says that level of competition will last until February 5.
“This week, I'll be overseeing the remaining six district quizzes which will culminate next week. The quiz is designed to sensitize students in science and technology and to promote science at the secondary schools, while stimulating a new interest in science and technology. These skills are especially helpful for students preparing for the Common Entrance Examination—the general paper and health science especially,” Singh said.
In addition, for the first time, the lower secondary school forms will participate in a zonal Science Quiz which commences on Tuesday, February 2, 2010.
“What I'm happy about is that all the schools are eager to take part in this quiz. The final for the secondary and the primary schools will is slated to coincide with Saint Lucia’s 31st Independence anniversary.”
Mr. Singh says over the past years, the island’s science and technology students have been consistently performing well at CXC examinations. |
