Tuesday, February 16, 2010 – An official of the Eastern Caribbean Civil Aviation Authority (ECCAA), based in Antigua, on Monday confirmed with the Government Information Service, that the search for missing colleagues in Haiti has not been officially called off.
Missing are Saint Lucian Mr. Rosemond James, Director General of the Eastern Caribbean Civil Aviation Authority and Trinidadian counterpart, Gregory McAlpin, Director of Flight Safety. The two colleagues according to the statement, had travelled to Haiti for a meeting with other delegates.
Concern arose on 13th of February, when the two who had checked into the Hotel Montana which had collapsed during the quake, did not make an appearance at the Part-au-Prince Airport for a flight out of Haiti.
The statement indicates that to date, the Eastern Caribbean Civil Aviation Authority attests to having made several attempts since the earthquake, to locate their missing colleagues, including dispatching its own search and rescue team to Haiti.
In spite of the unsuccessful outcome thus far, the statement says, the Eastern Caribbean Civil Aviation Authority has arranged with the Haitian Civil Aviation Authority, to liaise with the United Nations and United States authorities on this matter.
The site of the Hotel Montana is now a restricted zone. |
