Monday, February 8, 2010 – Saint Lucia is on the verge of experiencing its first ever television game show but with an educational twist.
The reality show is currently being developed as an entrepreneurial development component under the OPSR's newest development based initiative “STRIDE”, which stands for Strengthening Trade Through Rural Investments and Development of Entrepreneurship.
Director of the OPSR Jacqueline Emmanuel, says the programme is aimed at using non-conventional entertaining ways to capture the interest of entrepreneurs with a view to guiding them towards creating a new business culture.
“We have decided to approach it differently. We will be launching a reality game show where Saint Lucians can actually learn about getting into business and follow the steps for getting into business in an entertaining way,” Emmanuel said.
Emmanuel explained that the OPSR remains committed to enhancing the environment for business growth and development.
“Our approach is to work with the players already in this area like the Small Enterprise Development Unit (SEDU), in an effort to strengthen them by finding non-conventional and innovative ways to really change the business culture. We believe that everybody should think business.”
STRIDE comprises eight integrated projects that are strategically designed to generate growth and increase export of locally produced goods and services to a significant degree and in a sustainable manner. |
