Wednesday, February 10, 2010 – Saint Lucia has a new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Israel.
His Excellency Amiran Magid, Ambassador Designate of Israel to Saint Lucia, presented his letters of credence to Governor General, Dame Pearlette Louisy, on Tuesday, February 9, 2010.
In his presentation, Ambassador Magid highlighted the plans of the Israeli government to encourage and continually support the dignified welfare of humanity and international development, by strengthening the policies guiding its special initiatives, namely the MASHAV program for national development cooperation.
Israel and Saint Lucia relations, he explains, is a sterling example of his government's commitment to work for the development of Saint Lucia and the wider Diaspora.
Governor General, Dame Pearlette Louisy, in making a special plea to Ambassador Magid, called for more cooperation between the governments of Saint Lucia and Israel in the areas of tourism, health, technology and agriculture.
“Israel's comparative advantage and accumulated expertise in water technology and agricultural research is of immense interest to us at this time. You would have noticed that our vegetation is uncharacteristically brown all over. We have noted your extraordinary achievements in these two areas in spite of the challenges you face in your land and water resources and I am sure that there is a good partnership there waiting to be explored. I hope you can find time to discuss these with us,” Dame Pearlette said.
The state of Israel has accomplished much in its economy through the arts, science and culture and places freedom, democracy and equality as fundamental rights to sustaining its prosperity. |
