Tuesday, February 23, 2010  The Ministry of Education and Culture has deemed the 2010 National Youth Rally a resounding success.

The youth rally was held at the La Clery playing field following the Independence Parade.

All one hundred and five schools on the island participated in the event.

In his address, education minister Honourable Arsene James, called on the nation’s youth to rise to the occasion and lead by example in amicably resolving situations of conflict.

“There will always be differences, but these differences can be resolved firstly, by respecting the right to differing opinions, and the right to agree even to disagree when conflict arises.  The resolution should not be my assault,  battery or other forms of hostility; there can be dialogue, mediation or conflict resolution through common law or other means that can bring about a peaceful and amicable resolution.

The National Youth Rally has remained a staple on the independence calendar of activities for many years.

The activity was held under the patronage of the Governor General Her Excellency Dame Pearlette Louisy.
