Wednesday, February 24, 2010 – As employees of the crown prosecution office continue to mourn the passing of Corporal Vincent Peters, Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Victoria Charles Clarke, says her office has lost a dedicated and committed worker. Corporal Peters was gunned down on the evening of Friday February 19, near the Castries waterfront.
The DPP says her colleagues are trying to cope with the devastating situation.
“It is an unexpected and brutal way for someone to die, especially Corporal Peters, being the person he was—so full of life and energy—to be gunned down in this manner, it is very, very, tragic.”
The DPP says Corporal Peters will be missed not only for the integrity with which he carried out his duties but his affable personality.
“We remember him for many of the things that he did in the department not only as a prosecutor but also as a friend. He was a farmer and he usually brought some of his produce to the office to share with the rest of the staff. He had a good sense of humour—always had a joke to share—and even when we had difficult situations prosecuting cases, there was always some reassuring words from him; his spirit is alive in the department.”
Corporal Peters was employed at the Crown Prosecution Office for the past five and a half years. |
