Monday 18 October 2010  The management and hierarchy of the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) presented a progress report and a proposal plan to the Cabinet Sub–Committee on Crime and Security, Monday morning.

Speaking to reporters ahead of the meeting Prime Minister Honourable Stephenson King said Monday’s talks would also provide the opportunity for government to inform the police of some new proposed initiatives to combat crime.

“I will put all human and financial resources to work to ensure that we deal with the current situation; this situation must be dealt with without fear or favour.”

Home Affairs and National Security Minister Honourable Guy Mayer says government will place serious attention on the issues of juvenile delinquency and indiscipline as part of a multi-faceted approach to addressing the crime situation.

“I want to take this opportunity to thank the police for the work that they have been doing and the successes they have had over the last few months and assure them of government’s continuing support in their fight against crime and to keep Saint Lucians safe. We have to be tackling the issue of crime from different angles because even while we pursue the criminals and take a no-nonsense approach to dealing with them, we also have to concentrate on crime prevention issues.”

The minister has appealed to all citizens to work with the police in ridding Saint Lucia of the crime problem.
