Friday, April 9, 2010 The Soufriere Regional Development Foundation - SRDF -says the organization is pleased to have forged   international linkages that will redound to the benefit of the Soufriere community.

Recently the Foundation’s international partnership with Slippery Rock University and Bishop Canevin High School,   paved the way for the Sole 2 Soul project which has so far resulted in the presentation of 200 brand news pairs of shoes to students in Canaries and Soufriere.

A second presentation of foot wear is expected in the near future.

The project came out of discussions among the Foundation, Dr. Alice Kaiser-Drobney of Slippery Rock University and Mr. Ross Delvecchio of Bishop Cavenin College.

Both faculty representatives said the project was met with great enthusiasm by the staff and student body of their schools.

“Soufriere foundation is likewise excited about being in partnership with slippery Rock University and Cavenin (Cave-a-Nine) High School. We welcome such ventures. What we really want to do is to change lives; we want the era where students come to school with no shoes or badly worn shoes to become a thing of the past so this is the beginning of exciting things to come and I hope you students can really take advantage of this opportunity,” said Dominique Alexander, Manager of the Soufriere Regional Development Foundation.

The Foundation says its three-year long collaboration with Slippery Rock University, has already resulted in the formation of a stellar youth group I CAN and an annual summer program.
