Friday, April 23, 2010  As part of preparation for Homecoming 2010, the Office of the Prime Minister in collaboration with the Home Coming 2010 Committee has organized a training workshop for participants in the planned Partnership Fair to be held during Home Coming 2010. The workshop will be held at the NIC Conference Room on Monday, April 26th, 2010 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Participants in the training workshop will comprise representatives of NGOs, Community Based Organisations, Service Organisations, Small Businesses and Development Foundations among others.

The Saint Lucian Homecoming 2010 Committee has agreed that one of its major activities for the Saint Lucian Homecoming 2010 should be the staging of an event  designed to facilitate increased participation of the Saint Lucian Diaspora in skills, partnerships and network development, with Saint Lucians resident in the country.  The understanding is that such an approach would ensure that investment not be limited to its financial dimension but would also include social capital ideals such as networking, mentorship, and organization capacity building.

The Partnership Fair is planned to give youth groups, service groups, community organizations, sports clubs, NGO’s, small businesses, schools, charitable organizations, development foundations and other civil entities the opportunity to display their products/services.  It will also give those attending the convention of the Union of Saint Lucian Overseas Associations (USLOA) during Home Coming 2010, as well as residents, a profile of the groups with which they can partner or give assistance according to identified needs.  It is envisaged that this exercise will see investment in communities and grass roots groups that do not otherwise benefit from major funding support.

The Homecoming Committee has seen it fit to engage the participants of this Fair in intense training to ensure their preparedness for the event. The first training session for the north of the island will be facilitated through the support of the Office of Private Sector Relations (OPSR) with the assistance of Right Angle Imaging.  Participants will be sensitized in marketing techniques which will help them as they venture to forge alliances in the globalised world.  A second training session for participants in the south of the island, is planned for May.

The Partnership Fair which will be held during Home Coming 2010 will be staged on Monday, July 26, 2010.
