Friday, April 9, 2010  The government of Saint Lucia is putting initiatives together to intensify the work being done in healthcare reform on the island.

This comes on the heels of the observance of World Health Day on April 7.

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health, Felix St. Hill says the government of Saint Lucia will continue to support the ideals of the World Health Organisation (WHO), in its quest to realise its goals to improve public health care and access for all citizens.

“The participation of Saint Lucia in these annual events is testimony to out full support and commitment to achieving the Millennium Development Goals as directed by the World Health Organisation which include. These goals include a reduction in child mortality, improvement in maternal health and combating HIV/AIDS, malaria, tuberculosis and other diseases.”

Activities in observance for World Health Day were held under the theme, “Urbanisation and Health”.
