Contact: Claudia Monlouis

Tuesday, April 27, 2010 The Saint Lucia Blind Welfare Association – SLBWA, is a non-profit organization which leans heavily on the assistance of volunteers and donors. In that regard, Executive Director of the Association, Anthony Aril, has been working over the past several years to enhance the standard of living of blind and visually impaired citizens.

The SLBWA says the re-installation of the executive, during the Association’s recent Annual General Meeting is a re-affirmation, that there are persons committed to service in the wider Saint Lucian community.

“The positions are as follows: Mr. Martin Weeks-president; Dr. Horatius Jeffers-first vice president and Benet Henry is the second vice president. The recording secretary is Ms. Jessica Jacobie, the treasurer is Mr. Johnson Cenac and the, public relations officer is Miss Claudia Monlouis. Other members of the executive are Mr. Hezikiah Alphonse and Mr. Horace Polemis,” Mr. Avril said.

“Essentially, the outgoing executive which was newly elected in 2008 was returned to their respective positions since they were available and members were pleased with my performance.”

Reflecting on the past year, Mr. Avril says 2009 was very active and equally challenging but the organization achieved moderate but significant milestones.
