Friday, April 9, 2010 Agriculture Minister Hon. Ezechiel Joseph has cleared the air on speculations regarding the reasons for the discontinuation of construction work on the meat processing facility at Beausejour, Vieux-Fort.

“I want to dispel rumours that the contractor was trying short-cuts to save cost. That’s far from the truth.  The problem the contractor experienced was that the bill of quantities and the design for certain aspects of the project were not in sync. In fact the foundation which the contractor bid upon in the bill of quantities when compared it to the design amounted to over one million dollars more.”

Mr. Joseph assured that construction on the meat processing facility will recommence in the coming weeks. He says the facility is critical to the development of the island’s livestock sector.
