Wednesday September 30, 2009 – The National Skills Development Centre (NSDC), is working with over eighty training providers, who will be assisting with the OECS Skills for Inclusive Growth Project, when training commences in January 2010. General Manager of the NSDC Selma St. Prix says the training was originally planned for September 2009, but had to be pushed back because of a low response from employers.

“It has been kind of difficult for them in this economic crises and so we working to see how we could look at other projects, to piggyback on these projects and we could work collaboratively so that we could get it going. So that has caused some hiccups for us on that project, but we are hoping to start the training by January of next year.”

The OECS Skills for Inclusive Growth Project was designed to assist OECS Governments to increase the employability of youth through private-sector driven training.

The project focuses on three components: Skills training for unemployed youth, improving the policy framework for training, and project management and institutional strengthening.
