Friday, September 04, 2009 – The Saint Lucia Mission of Seventh Day Adventists have partnered with the Ministry of Social Transformation and the Department of Gender Relations in delivering a month of Intensive Family Life Seminars.
At a press conference, earlier this week Directors of the initiative say the seminars is timely for Saint Lucia in light of the growing strain placed on modern families. US-based Family Life Educator Pastor Gordon Martinborough explains the series prepares families to live more fulfilling lives by tackling such vital issues.
“These seminars are very practical, they are how-to-do-it, step-by-step guides, we deal with the subject of stress, which everybody need to know how to manage, health, parenting, whether it is parenting young children or parenting teenagers. So what we are saying is that the syllabus is comprehensive and covers every area of family life,” said Pastor Martinborough.
Assistant Director, Ministry of Social Transformation, Martha Blanchard explains the Family Life series joins HOPE and Koudmain Ste Lisi, projects initiated by her Ministry to quell the strains on domestic life on the island. She says that it is important that the country re-invent itself in order to face future challenges.
“Children and young people are asking and pleading for attention and so this has raised a flag and as a Unit we need to recognise these changing realities, and so our programming has to be structured to ensure that we give attention to children and to young people,” Blanchard said.
The Family Life Seminars run from September 4th to October 3rd , 2009 at the Bay Gardens hotel. Prospective participants are to register at the SDA Mission Office, Lanse Road, Castries. |
