Monday,  October 19, 2009 –  The Embassy of Taiwan has donated a cheque of over Five Thousand EC Dollars, towards the St. Jude rehabilitation project.

The monies were collected through a fund raising raffle undertaken by the Taiwanese Embassy and the Coconut Bay Resort, during the Taiwan/Saint Lucia Partnership Trade exhibition from October 2 to 4.

The cheque was presented by Taiwanese Ambassador Tom Chou to the Saint Jude Hospital Board.

“I am glad,” the Ambassador said, “to announce that through the fund raising effort we collected about $5, 261 dollars. This is not the only effort; this is just the beginning.”

Accepting the cheque, Chairman of the Saint Jude Hospital Board Perceival Mc. Donald, thanked Ambassador Chou and his team for their unwavering support to ensure the rebuilding of Saint Jude.

“Let me express my sincere thanks on behalf of the government, our board of management, and management team. We really appreciate your effort and believe  I am really looking forward to working with Taiwan all the way for a new hospital,” Mc. Donald said.

Sections of Saint Jude Hospital were destroyed by a fire on September, 9, 2009.
