Saint Jude hotline established

Friday, October 2, 2009 – A hotline and an information desk have been established to facilitate the efficient coordination of all queries regarding the reconstruction of St. Jude Hospital.

The hotline number is 450-JUDE or 450-5833. The information desk is located at the Office of the Prime Minister.

According to Permanent Secretary responsible for pecial initiatives in the Prime Minister's Office, Esther Brathwaite, the initiative was spearheaded by the National Task Force on Saint Jude Hospital.

“The National task Force on Saint Jude Hospital is headed by the Honourable Prime Minister with the minister for health deputizing; we do have a wide number of persons on that task force with various responsibilities representing various sectors as well.”

The task force, Ms. Braithwaite says, is multi-sectoral in its make-up and addresses a number of areas of concern.

''We do have a wide number of persons on that task force representing various sectors sharing a number of responsibilities. The task force does have sub-committees ranging from site management – in which NEMO is involved, in collaboration with the Ministry of health—which looks at incoming supplies for the hospital.”

The National Task Force on the Saint Jude Hospital also comprises the Public Sector Resource Mobilization, with responsibility by the Ministry of Finance, which is mandated to oversee financial contributions from friendly governments.
