Monday, October 19, 2009 – As part of a deliberate effort towards maximizing economic returns to the local business community, the National Development Corporation (NDC), last week signed a partnership agreement, with the Courtesy Taxi Co-operative Society.
NDC’s Communications and Special Events Officer John Emmanuel says the Corporation recognizes the importance of the 200 strong Courtesy Taxi membership, as an important part of the service delivery and image of Point Seraphine Duty free Shopping Complex.
“That newly negotiated two-year agreement will ensure that members of Courtesy Taxi benefit substantially from projected increases in cruise ship passenger arrivals for the season, scheduled to open in October and for years to come. In addition to the economic spin-offs to the taxi sector, the 2009-2011 agreement will ensure the smooth and uninterrupted operation of taxi services to the benefit of hundreds of patrons, cruise passengers and others who utilize the Pointe Seraphine Duty Free Shopping Complex,” said Emmanuel.
Mr. Emmanuel says, at a time when the industrial climate is tense, it is heart-warming that a major statutory body, such as the NDC, and one of its major stake holders, have recommited to working together. |
