National rally to support reconstruction of St. Jude scheduled to take place at the Phillip Marcellin Grounds in Vieux Fort

Wednesday,  October 28, 2009  A national fund raising rally in support of the St. Jude Hospital reconciliation effort is scheduled to be staged next month. The rally is designed to provide an opportunity for every citizen, community based and civil society organization to participate in, and contribute to, the national campaign for the reconstruction of the St. Jude Hospital.

 

The rally is scheduled to take place at the Phillip Marcellin Grounds in Vieux-Fort on Sunday 15th of November, 2009, from 1.00 p.m.

 

The activity is being coordinated by a multi-sectoral organizing committee in collaboration with the National Task Force for the Reconstruction of St. Jude Hospital. The rally will be preceded by a national unity march led by government members, civil society, and religious leaders.

 

Activities will include, dance, drumming, drama, poetry and other cultural performances. as well as addresses by senior government officials.

 

A brief history of St. Jude Hospital will also be presented by the Archaeological and Historical Society. A moment of silence will be observed for those who perished in the September 9th, 2009 blaze, and heroes of the rescue effort will be honoured. The rally will be staged under the theme: “Rising from the ashes, Rebuilding the Love.”
