Wednesday,  October 14, 2009  The Government of Saint Lucia would like to publicly compliment Mr. Rayneau Gajadhar CEO and Managing Director of RG Group of Companies, for once again launching an innovative and creative initiative, which is geared at encouraging and stimulating growth within the local business environment.

The new initiative called: “Discovering Entrepreneurs – Generation Next”, is a programme, that seeks to identify, encourage and assist primarily young school-leavers, who will be invited to produce innovative ideas that can get them to become self-employed. Through this initiative (which is intended to be an annual undertaking), a total of ten (10) successful candidates will be awarded grants and technical assistance to assist in the fulfilment of their business ideas.

The Government is extremely pleased by this expression of generosity and forward thinking on the part of Mr. Gajadhar, which it expects will help to broaden the scope of options available to young school leavers. This undertaking by Mr. Gajadhar is both timely and courageous, given the current challenging global economic environment. It is an initiative that is consistent with Government’s approach which has been employed in other sectors like tourism.

Government is expressing its full endorsement and support for  this new programme launched by Mr. Rayneau Gajadhar and the RG Group and would like to encourage other private sector entities to undertake similar ventures. Government is always mindful of the partnership role of the private sector in helping to engineer activity and growth in the economy.

The Government is therefore encouraging young persons who qualify to take full advantage of this opportunity provided through this initiative and to ensure that their submissions are made before the deadline date of November 30, 2009. Government will endeavour to promote this worthwhile programme through the websites of the Government Information Service, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Consumer Affairs. Information on the RG Group of Companies programme can be secured from their website: http://www.cie-rgltd.com/.
