Government appoints press secretary

Friday, October 09, 2009 – The image and visibility of the government of Saint Lucia is expected to come into sharper focus, as this week the Office of the Prime Minister has announced the appointment of Government Press Secretary, Mr. Darnley Lebourne.

Mr. Lebourne informed the Government Information Service that there are many plans to be rolled out that will strengthen communication between government, the press and the general public.

“My responsibility will basically be advancing the image of government, communicating to the general public with the respect to initiatives and programmes of the Government of Saint Lucia. One should expect t my efforts to be one that is very open, one that is respectful of the public’s right to know and to be informed.”

The press secretary, who says he has no intention of operating a one-man show, is just settling into his new job, having only assumed the post on the 6^th of October.
