Monday,  November 2, 2009  After a five year absence, the internationally recognised Condor Airlines is again servicing Saint Lucia.

Prime Minister Honourable Stephenson King and other government ministers and officials, were on hand to welcome Condor Airlines back to the Hewanorra International Airport on Sunday evening.

Mr. King says the Condor flight  direct from Germany,  is the result of ongoing negotiations aimed at increasing airlift to Saint Lucia.

The Prime Minister says the Condor flight is an important service from the German market particularly during the Winter Season.

“Condor has been a visiting friend to our shores for some time now. However, five years ago, the island suspended travel to our island .We are proud that they have returned as we welcome an increase in business here in Saint Lucia during the Winter Season.”

Prime Minister King says he is unequivocal  that the Condor flight will be of tremendous benefit to Saint Lucia's Tourism Industry.

Mr.  King says he is confident that the Condor flight will be successful, since  the German market is one of the main drivers for Tourism worldwide.

“In the first instance you are scheduled to be here for six months, but it is our intention as a government, to continue to negotiate to sustain your operations beyond six months and to have Condor put on a regularly scheduled flight to Saint Lucia. We know that what we offer to those who visit Saint Lucia is a product which is diverse, so we are certain that our product will present many opportunities to our friends in Germany.”

Condor will fly non-stop from Germany to Saint Lucia every Sunday. This comes on the heels of the inaugural  JetBlue flight last Monday. Jet Blue will be servicing Saint Lucia  three times a week.
