Tuesday, November 17, 2009 – The National HIV/AIDS Programme Secretariat (NAPS) has unveiled its itinerary of activities in observance of World Aids Day 2009.

Sonia Alexander says, this year's initiatives aim to sensitize the populace on a number of available options for the care and management of HIV and AIDS. NAPS, she says, is also excited about unveiling its support services and latest prevention options available on the island.

Alexander noted that the organization has placed greater emphasis on mobilising the youth, to develop a keen sense of their sexual and reproductive health.

“This year, we are having a number of activities and we are starting early because we want to expand the community response to HIV/AIDS and to get the community participation and involvement,” Alexander said.

In Saint Lucia,World Aids Day will be observed on December 1, 2009, under the sub-theme, “Shine Your Light on Human Rights”.
