Friday,  November 27, 2009  Communications and Works Minister, Honourable Guy Joseph, says his ministry is presently conducting a comprehensive review of the island's road network, to give priority to the roads which are most in need of attention.

“We have several projects that are ongoing. For example the west coast road linking Castries to Soufriere needed some major repairs and works are ongoing presently on this section of road; the section from Praslin to Canelles is also now being addressed. One of the roads that is of major concern to me presently is the Anger to Desruisseaux road. We have been criticised a lot and rightfully so for not attending to this road as quickly as we should have, but I know that my Ministry is completing negotiations with contractors who submitted proposals. Hopefully, before the end of this month I should be in a position to to announce the commencement of works on the Anger to  Desruisseaux  road,” the minister said.

Minister Joseph says works on the Allan Bousquet Highway are expected to be completed by the middle of December.

He says all roads in need of improvements will be given the necessary upgrades once the resources are available.
