Thursday, November 12, 2009 – The Government of Saint Lucia and the Caribbean Telecommunications Union (CTU), has embarked on an exciting journey in staging a historic twenty-country Caribbean ICT Road show during this, its 20th aniversary year.
Secretary General of the Caribbean Telecommunications Union, Bernadette Lewis, says the ICT Roadshow, is designed to foster a spirit of innovation and awareness of information and communication-based technology throughout the Caribbean diaspora. She says the region must be open and prepared to meet challenges presented by each new cycle of technological innovation. “This advent demands that we adopt revolutionary new approaches to how we operate, how we interact, how we communicate, if we are going to develop socially and economically,” Lewis said.
Ms. Lewis says the globalisation of trade has fundamentally changed the lansdscape of conducting business negotiations, and as such, the Caribbean must work ceaselessly at creating timely technological responses. “This lecture forum will focus on how the world has changed the impact of ITC innovation and will explain some of the implications for the world of work.”
The Caribbean ITC Roadshow, will be held alongside celebrations to mark the 10th anniversary of the Eastern Caribbean Telecommunication Authority, next year. |
