Tuesday, March 10, 2009 –Primary, secondary and tertiary schools are now getting set to display innovative projects at the annual Schools Science Fair, a three-day exhibition to be staged soon.
Curriculum Officer for Natural Science in the Ministry of Education Mottilal Singh said over the years the event has been met with much enthusiasm and this year is indicative of the same reception.
“So far the response from the schools is very encouraging, and I think most schools should be on board this year. Reflecting on the fair over the past years, we’ve had a marked improved. The Science Fair takes place from March the 25th to the 27, at the Beausejour cricket Stadium.”
The theme for the science fair, he added, gives not just the students but everyone in general, food for thought.
“We have a theme: “Imagine the future, taking science and technology seriously”. A very fitting theme for a broad range of projects to bring out the seriousness of science and the importance of science for the survival of mankind,” Singh said.
The students will display projects in several categories, which will be judged by a special panel. The categories include: Environmental Science, Innovation, Home Economics, Agricultural Science and Mathematics. Innovation and Alternative Energy are two newly introduced categories in this year’s version of the fair. |
