Monday,  March 30, 2009 – The International American University College of Medicine (IAU) will be hosting a Seminar in observation of World Health Day on Tuesday April 7th 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the premises of the University, Beanefield, Vieux-Fort. The scientific session of the proceedings will feature aspects of emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases, Cancer, Diabetes Mellitus, Hypertension, HIV/AIDS and STDs, among other health problems.

This is the second such activity this year in accordance with the University's commitment to observe the health calendar proposed by the World Health Organization (WHO),   having hosted a successful Interactive Seminar in January 2009 in observance of World Leprosy Day.

The University is committed to encouraging community involvement in overall medical education and health care and as such the seminar will focus on themes impacting the health services in Saint Lucia.

The seminar is open to all medical personnel, students, government/private sector and other social organizations as well as the general public.
