Tuesday, July 7, 2009 – The top five achievers at this year's Common Entrance Exams from the constituency of Chosieul /Saltibus will each receive a new computer and printer for their efforts.
The disclosure was made by the Member of Parliament for the area Honourable Rufus Bousquet during a recent tour to the community of Mongouge and its environs.
Mr. Bousquet says the aim is to award the top achievers for their hard work while at the same time encourage other students to strive for excellence.
“I said I was going to provide one computer, then I moved to two; this year I intend to give five laptop computers so that the top five students from the constituency of Chosieul/Saltibus will each receive a laptop computer and a printer. These are just some of the things I do as the Parliamentary Representative for the area to encourage the young people to do well,” said Mr. Bousquet.
The constituency of Chosieul /Saltibus is home to the island's top rank student at the 2008 Common Entrance Exams – Tanisha Peter.
Mr. Bousquet says particular emphasis is being placed on youth development in his attempt to foster the holistic development of the residents of the constituency because the youth in the area have shown that they can achieve if given the opportunity.
“We have a lot of children who have shown tremendous promise. I think if we give them the opportunity, a lot of them will perform far in excess of what we think they can do. The real role for me right now is to try to create opportunities for them so through this initiative I hope we can reach some of these young people” said the Member of Parliament for Chosieul/Saltibus Honourable Rufus Bousquet. |
