Wednesday, December 9, 2009  Two months into what has been hailed as perhaps the busiest cruise ship season on record,   the island’s première duty free shopping facility, Pointe Seraphine continues to welcome new vessels.

On Tuesday, December 8, officials of the National Development Corporation – owners and managers of Duty Free Pointe Seraphine, for the third time since the opening of the 2009/2010 season, welcomed a new vessel into port, this time Celebrity Cruises Equinox.

The captain and senior officers aboard the Equinox were officially welcomed to Saint Lucia via a brief ceremony, where they were presented with plaques and other mementos by officials of Duty Free Pointe Seraphine, the ministry of tourism and ship agent Platinum Cruise Services.

Operations Manager at Pointe Seraphine, Ena James, says Pointe Seraphine, and by extension Saint Lucia, is pleased to welcome the luxurious and ultra modern vessel to our shores along with its 2800 passengers.

James says management of the facility has, and will continue to strive, not only to improve on the infrastructural amenities being offered at Pointe Seraphine, but equally, to ensure all is being  done towards  improving the unique visitor experience at the Pointe Seraphine.
