Friday, December 11, 2009 – The Saint Lucia government’s efforts to align all the island’s secondary schools to international emergency management protocols are in full effect.
The Choiseul Secondary School was this week, the latest institution to be equipped with an intercom system, which will allow easier communication and the overall efficient management of affairs by the school's administration.
Parliamentary representative for Choiseul/Saltibus, Honourable Rufus Bousquet, says his collaboration with the Ministry of Education in securing funding for the project is proof that the development of youth is at the centre of government’s vision for the future.
Minister Bousquet, in addressing the faculty and students at the Choiseul Secondary School at Wednesday’s ceremony said: “My objective is to always create an environment in which students can learn, and to make teaching a more fulfilling career. This is what the government is aiming for, and so, this is part of my responsibility for the community; I see this as nothing to be praised for.”
The Taiwanese Embassy, minister Bousquet says, have agreed recently, to assist the government of Saint Lucia in further updating utilities at the school, particularly within the music and agricultural departments.
“Early next year, we are going to be using the property to the back of the school to house the model farm prototype for the community of Choiseul, so that students pursuing their O’levels in agriculture will learn all the modern agricultural techniques,” said minister Bousquet.
The intercom system is to be fully operational at the commencement of the second semester in January, 2010. |
