Friday, December 4, 2009 – On Wednesday, December 2nd, 2009, Canadian
High Commissioner Designate, Her Excellency, Ruth Archibald will conduct an
official visits to Saint Lucia. During that visit, Her Excellency will meet
Prime Minister, Hon. Stephenson King to present Letters of Introduction.
Following which she will make an official call on Governor General Her
Excellency Dame Pearlette Louisy to present her Credentials.
The High Commissioner Designate will also use the opportunity of her visit to
Saint Lucia to present Prime Minister King with a cheque of Cdn. $98,019.00 or
the equivalent of EC $244.283.00 as a contribution towards the St Jude Hospital
reconstruction effort. The Canadian grant support will go towards the
procurement of much needed surgical equipment for St Jude Hospital.
The Canadian High Commissioner Designate was born on July 26th, 1949 and is a
native of Newfoundland, Canada. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and
Political Science. Her Excellency has a career spanning 22 years in the public
service. She has served in a number of capacities previously including:
Director, Migration, Population and Humanitarian Affairs – Department of Foreign
Affairs and International Trade; Senior Coordinator, International Crime and
Terrorism – Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade; High
Commissioner of Canada to Colombo and High Commissioner of Canada to Pretoria
from 2006 to current.
