Wednesday, August 12, 2009 –  The outbreak of “Flu like illness” at a particular summer camp is under control.    Only one individual in the summer camp tested positive for the H1N1 Influenza virus. This individual has since completed treatment and has fully recovered, after being kept in isolation for a week.

International Health Experts, who have been assisting the Ministry of Health,  with this summer camp outbreak, indicate that seasonal influenza (or the common cold) may have been circulating in the camp, along with H1N1 Influenza.

This flu outbreak in the summer camp gives an indication of how easily flu can spread among youngsters, in a school setting, where children and young adults are in close contact with each other.

On Monday August 24, 2009, the Ministry of Education will dialogue on schools preparedness for Pandemic influenza.
