Contact: Office of the Prime Minister

Tuesday, April 21, 2009 – Prime Minister Honourable Stephenson King, will, within the next 48 hours, meet with the leadership of the National Workers Union and the Vieux- Fort and General Dock Workers Union, to discuss the implementation of this year’s wage increase to non-established government workers, as well as employees of the various town and village councils.

The National Workers Union represents non-established government workers and some town and village employees, while the Vieux-Fort General and Dock Workers Union is the bargaining body for town and village council workers in the south of the island.

The two unions were not represented at last week’s meeting between the Saint Lucia Federation of Trade Unions and Prime Minister Stephenson King.
