NCF calls for pledging to continue

Tuesday, April 21, 2009 – The National Community Foundation (NCF), has deemed the National Telethon held Sunday a success, although affected by inclement weather.
Executive Director of the NCF Juliana Alfred, says the overall target still stands at $250 thousand dollars; she is convinced that the amount will gradually be achieved. She called on citizens and the private sector to contribute, if they have not yet done so.
“We were not able to meet our target of $250,000, but we have come half way. What is important for us is that pledging continues. Early this morning, I received two additional pledges for the National Community Foundation which will increase our pledge total to approximately 150,000.00. So for us pledging continues,” said the NCF's Executive Director.
The projection is that within weeks, the pledged amount will climb to a total of $200,000.
“We would like to express our gratitude to the many performers, who gave of their time and their service to the NCF. The many volunteers, media houses, the sponsors who made pledges and have agreed to make future pledges, the service clubs, the security, everybody played their part to ensure the activity was a success. Without these persons and these organizations, the telethon would not have been possible. So the success of the telethon is credited to all these organizations and individuals,” she said.
People wishing to pledge can do so at the Bank of Saint Lucia, on account number 104511121 and the First National Bank, on account number 8405087.
The last NCF telethon was held in 2007 when just over $222, 000 was donated. There was no telethon in 2008. |
