Thursday, September 04, 2008 – A three member technical team from Taiwan on Tuesday September 2nd,  met with Prime Minister Honourable Stephenson King to update him on plans for the completion of the new psychiatric hospital.

 

The 84 bed facility will include a diagnostic building, a psychiatric recovery unit, neurological and administrative buildings and a psychiatric independent living unit.

 

Currently the team is involved in the preparation of dormitories to house highly skilled workers from Taiwan.

 

The project is expected to cost a further 12 million EC dollars and work is expected to start at the beginning of October this year.

 

Meanwhile, plans are well underway for the construction of a new national hospital. The Government of Saint Lucia is now inviting tenders for the project and October 31, 2008 has been set as the deadline date for the receipt of tenders.

 

Firms wishing to bid on the project are asked to contact the National Authorizing Office, Ministry of Economic Affairs and Planning, American Drywall Building, Vide Boutielle, Castries.
