Office of the Prime Minister Thursday, 11 September 2008 – Prime Ministers from the OECS are today Thursday October 11th meeting in Special Session in Saint Lucia to discuss the implications arising out of last month’s intention to expand their economic union to include Trinidad and Tobago.
The Prime Ministers will focus on specific areas which are likely to impinge on the proposed expanded economic union. These areas include OECS/Venezuela relations in the context of PetroCaribe and funding for the new OECS headquarters, OECS/ Development Agency relations and OECS institutions including the Secretariat, ECTEL, the Central Bank and the ECCAA. The OECS Prime Ministers will also dialogue on issues regarding the OECS Maritime Boundary Delimitation.
The meeting is also expected to formulate a Public Relations Strategy to deal with any new initiatives arising out of today’s Special Session. |
