Tuesday, October 14, 2008 – The work programme for the Sociological
Capture Project under the Social Recovery Component of the Special Framework of
Assistance 2001 (SFA – 2001), has recently been approved by the EU Delegation.
The objective of the project is to improve living standards and social welfare
through effective policy formulation and provision of social support.
The project’s purpose is to enhance the capability and capacity at the national
level to effectively manage and disseminate data and information on key
development indicators so as to better inform policy formulation and improve
decision making by the private sector and the rest of civil society.
The desired results are greater availability, improved access and higher quality
of information to guide policy formulation and investment decision-making. This
will enable a more holistic and integrated approach to planning and national
development contributing to the formalization of an efficient and effective data
capture network (system and mechanisms).
The above will all be integrated to provide data and information which will be
used to develop a plan of action for poverty-focused planning based on policy
recommendations from census analysis, the Country Poverty Assessment, Core
Welfare Indicator Questionnaire Survey and the Agricultural Census.
A national workshop has been organized in keeping with the work programme to
enable discussion and consultation with key local and regional stakeholders in a
wide range of sectors. The objective of the workshop will be to identify
appropriate indicators to be developed. To achieve this, representatives from
the various ministries will be making presentations on the current status of
their sectors to enable meaningful discussion and assist in charting the way
forward. The workshop has been scheduled for October 14th to 16th, 2008 at the
National Insurance Conference Center.
We would like you to provide coverage on the above mentioned. You may contact
