Wednesday, October 15, 2008 – The Cultural Development Foundation in collaboration with the Ministry of Education & Culture will be hosting the 2008 La Marguerite Flower Festival on Friday October 17th in the communities of Gros Islet in the north, Laborie in the south and Soufriere on the west coast.

The observance will commence with church services at 10 a.m. at the Roman Catholic Churches within each community. Msgr Patrick Anthony will be officiating at the St. Joseph the Worker Church, in Gros Islet where the following schools will participate: Anglican Primary, Ave Maria Primary, Babonneau Primary, Balata Combined, Camille Henry Memorial, Carmen Renee Memorial, Dame Pearlette Louisy Primary, Dennery Infant, Dunnator Primary, Gros Islet Primary, Marchand Combined Methodist Infant, St. Aloysius R.C. Boys Primary, Ti Rocher (Castries) Primary and the Vide Bouteille Infant and Primary schools.

Five La Marguerite community groups from Au Leon Dennery, Laborie, (Grande Riviere in Dennery and Vieux Fort, will join schools from Laborie, Choiseul, Vieux Fort, Reunion and Dugard at the Laborie Roman Catholic Church where Fr Cetoute will celebrate the La Marguerite Mas.

In Soufriere the schools from District 8 will attend church service at the Lady of the Assumption Church to be officiated by Fr. Raymond Laurent. Schools from District 8 attending the church service are Fond St Jacques Combined, Les Etangs Combined, Bouton Combined, Soufriere Infant and Soufriere Primary, Grow Ed and Canaries Infant, Canaries Primary Kids World Preschool and Fond St. Jacques Day Care.

After the church services, the community groups and participating schools will return to their respective areas to continue the La Marguerite celebrations.
