Thursday, October 9, 2008 – In a new dimension, the Ministry of Education has decided to honour a teacher from a local school who has demonstrated excellence in the teaching of science, and a science educator who has contributed to the advancement of science in St. Lucia.
Any full-time teacher from a local tertiary, secondary or primary school who teaches any science subject or subjects can be nominated. The educator should be an individual would has contributed to the development of science in St. Lucia. Retired teachers/educators may be nominated.
Anybody can nominate a teacher or science educator for the award. This may include students, teachers, principals, education officers, parents and members of the public. Teachers may not nominate themselves. An individual can nominate only one teacher for the award. Forms are available from school and district education offices. The awardees will each receive a cash prize, a plaque and recognition at the National Science Teacher Award Ceremony. The ceremony will take place at Government House under the patronage of Her Excellency Dame Pearlette Louisy, on November 10, 2008, World Science Day/
