Thursday, November 13, 2008 – The labour department of the Ministry of Labour, Information & Broadcasting is taking the opportunity to correct misinformation that is currently being fed to the public. Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Labour, Information and Broadcasting, Thecla Augustin says contrary to reports that the absence of a Labour Commissioner has stagnated work, the Labour department continues to function actively.
Among several matters that the department continues to deal with are conciliation with Jalousie, mediation with the Royal Bank of Canada on Friday. A number of pre-polls meetings are taking place at various business places whilst polls are being conducted.
Currently, the department is preparing to carry out a poll at Rambally's Funeral Home.
Last week the department facilitated the signing of an agreement between the Castries City Council and the CSA.
Meantime, the Labour department awaits the appointment of the Labour Commissioner, which is the prerogative of the Public Service Commission—the only entity that can hire persons with the Public Service. |
