Friday,  November 28, 2008 –  On Wednesday 26th November 2008 the village of Canaries accomplished a significant milestone in their educational  and socio economic development with the inauguration of a Community Computer Resource Centre.

The ceremonial opening which was held at the Canaries Infant School at 10:00 a.m. was professionally organized by the Canaries Development Committee under the able leadership of Ms. Simonia Jn Baptiste.

The large audience was treated with eloquent addresses by several  dignitaries and community leaders, among them Honourable Gaspard Charlemagne, Minister in the Ministry of Education and Culture, His Excellency Tom Chou Ambassador of Taiwan and Community Activist  Mr. John Mederick.

Honourable Dr. Keith Mondesir, Parliamentary Representative for the Anse La Raye/ Canaries Constituency was vividly overcome with joy and spoke  from his heart with a certain measure of passion whilst addressing his constituents.  He assured the audience  that “there are other ambitious community development projects to be implemented in Canaries  in the near future, which aims to  elevate the socio-economic  standard of the villagers.

One such project is the acquisition of lands near Canaries by government to develop a housing project.  The parliamentary representative also lavished praise on the Government of Taiwan for the donation of nineteen (19) computers to the Canaries community.

Against the backdrop of skits performed by students from the Canaries Infant School, a ribbon cutting ceremony marked the official  opening of the Canaries Computer  Resource Centre which is anticipated to positively change the lifestyle of the Community.
