Thursday, May 8, 2008 – Small and micro entrepreneurs will be given an opportunity to increase their competence with an upcoming training programme, to be hosted by the Small Enterprise Development Unit (SEDU) of the Ministry of Trade, Industry, Commerce and Consumer Affairs.
The training programme entitled “Strategic Alliances for Small and Micro Enterprises” will be held on Tuesday May 20th, at the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College.
Pearle Alcindor, Business Development Officer with SEDU said: “The objective of this exercise is to help our entrepreneurs develop competencies in terms of identifying ways they could collaborate with other established organizations, in terms of improving their competitiveness, and by improving their competitiveness, we're looking at strategies to collaborate, to reduce pricing, do joint training - ways to investigate risks, and so on.”
Ms. Alcindor urged small business operators to take advantage of the training opportunity, in order to develop the skills required to perform productively alongside competitors.
“The training is open for all small and micro entrepreneurs, whether you are a minibus driver or in catering or photography; anybody who is more or less serious about their business and want to learn new strategies, to remain viable and sustainable in a changing market,” Alcindor said.
At the end of the training programme, it is expected that participants would be better equipped to successfully manage their businesses and benefit from the enterprise opportunities presented by the CARICOM Single Market and Economy. |
