Wednesday, February 6, 2008 -The Hyundai Motor Company has presented three new ambulances to the Government and People of Saint Lucia.  The receipt of the ambulances followed Saint Lucia's staunch support for South Korea's successful bid to host the 2012 International EXPO, of which the Hyundai Motor Company was a close ally.

Multi-Services Limited, a subsidiary of the Monrose Group of Companies is the agent for Hyundai Motors in Saint Lucia.  The company's chairman Dr. Michael Pilgrim expressed pleasure in assisting the country in elevating its health services.

“I would like to assure the Prime Minister that our company will continue to give the support which is needed, especially in the health services, because the only way the country can produce productivity is if the health of the nation is good. We are contributing to the health of the nation by donating the three ambulances to the government and people of Saint Lucia,” Dr. Pilgrim said.

Prime Minister Honourable Stephenson King received the keys to the ambulances at the ceremony held on the premises of Multi-Services Limited in Gros-Islet.  He said it was very appropriate that a car dealership should provide such a service in light of the misuse of vehicles by certain elements in the society.

“Too often  you sell vehicles to our people and some use them prudently and wisely, but we know there are those who misuse them. In the misuse of vehicles  most often there is need  for a call to the ambulance to take care of those who may be injured  in the process. I do promise that the use of the ambulances will assist in a way that will enhance the emergency medical services in Saint Lucia, because that is an area of  extreme importance to our people,” the Prime Minister said.

He noted that government was engaged in the enhancement of emergency medical services and gave the assurance  that the new ambulance fleet will be managed in a professional manner  to the benefit of  Saint Lucians.
