Tuesday,  December 09, 2008 –  The Saint Lucia Crisis Centre,  which opened its doors twenty years ago,  has chronicled its history  in a twenty-minute documentary entitled “ The Difference we’ve made, the difference we need” in celebration of  its  20th anniversary.

President of the Saint Lucia Crises Centre Delia Francois,  said the Centre has made significant strides over the years, in helping to give greater prominence to  issues of domestic violence, which in the past were treated with  scant regard.

The documentary is  expected to  inspire a continued commitment  from the highest levels of  society to protect  vulnerable citizens. DVD Copies of the documentary, which were produced by Acella  Marketing   were presented to various sponsors and affiliates of the Centre during a brief ceremony  which was held

at Government House.

“The contributions of the Saint Lucia Crisis Centre were the results of crafty innovations based upon necessity, vision pure unadulterated faith. Twenty years hence, the Centre has a story to tell that tempers the tears of tribulations,  with a measure of triumphs of newly empowered Saint Lucian citizens and those on the journey to self actualization—providing access, safety,  effective interventions and  expending options to persons impacted by domestic violence,” Francois  said.

Governor General Dame Pearlette Louisy,  on receiving a copy of the documentary commended the St. Lucia Crisis Centre for the work that it continues to do in the area of social/family relationships. Dame Pearlette also extended her appreciation for the efforts of the founders and contributors of the Centre.

“Lets hope that during this season the administrators of the Crises Centre will spend more time at home, because there will be less need to answer calls of distress from victims of domestic abuse. So a  blessed Christmas to everybody and to all of Saint Lucia.”

The Saint Lucia Crisis Centre was founded by Iyonne Erlinger Forde  and co-founders,  Ingrid Skerrit, Lawrence Laurent, Marcia Lesmond, and Charmaine Gardener.
