Thursday, December 18, 2008 – Member of Parliament for Castries Central Honourable Richard is spearheading a massive beautification exercise involving the repainting of the CDC apartments. On Wednesday December 17th, the Castries MP led a small delegation on site, where one hundred and twenty young men from the constituency are involved in the project.
“We believe that the painting at this time would serve a dual purpose; firstly it would provide a facelift to the buildings and secondly it would inject money into the pockets of residents,” said the Castries Central MP.
Manager of the project Tryce Loctor Polius, said because of the busy traffic and heavy volume of passers-by associated with the Christmas season, only the two -storey buildings are being tackled in this phase of the project. The project is estimated at five hundred thousand dollars, and is earmarked for completion before December 25th.
“Hopefully by the end of Friday we are hoping to be 80% complete. The workers are working on weekends to ensure this happens,” said Polius. The three and four-storey buildings, according to the Castries MP, will be painted early in the new year. |
