Friday, August 29, 2008 – The Saint Lucia Blind Welfare Association (SLBWA) is the grateful recipient of the proceeds of the Dewar’s 12-year-old Scotch Whisky Charity Golf Tournament held on Saturday, 23rd August, 2008 for the second consecutive year.
In thanking the persons who made the gesture possible Executive Director of the SLBWA Anthony Avril commended the initiative, which he said, will go towards the Mail Appeal fund raising campaign.
“We want to thank them sincerely for this gesture. I take this opportunity also to appeal to Saint Lucians and friends of Saint Lucia so that other groups can emulate what Brydens have done. You can organise a special event of your own and you may donate the proceeds or part thereof to the Saint Lucia Blind Welfare Association,” said the SLBWA executive director.
Sales and Marketing Manager for Wines, Spirits and Tobacco Paul Marshall noted the objective of the Dewars Charity Golf event is to present the proceeds to a deserving charity.
“This could not happen without the help and support of the members and players of the Saint Lucia Golf and Country Club. So they deserved a big round of applause and a big thank you. I would like to thank Bryden & Partners for helping me put this together and Dewar's 12-year-old Scotch Whiskey. We look forward to doing it again next year,” he said.
The amount of US$1000 was presented to the Association on behalf of Bryden and Partners. |
