Monday, September 10, 2007 - The Minister of Information and Broadcasting Hon. Tessa Mangal would like to inform the public that a special press conference is to be held during the course of this week to answer all public questions and concerns regarding arrangements for the funeral of the late Rt. Hon. Sir John Compton, who passed away on Friday 7th September, 2007.


This is in response to numerous calls enquiring about the date of Sir John’s Funeral and burial. The Minister advises that a decision on the date has been made, and wishes to confirm Saturday 22 September, 2007 as the date for the funeral. Time, venue and other activities leading up to the funeral will be announced at the press conference.


At this time the Minister expresses her understanding of the public’s anxiety and concerns and joins in the period of reflection with citizens and shares in their grief over the passing of the Father of the Nation the Rt. Hon. Sir John Compton.
