Tuesday, September 4, 2007 – The Ministry of Education and Culture is continuing with its plan to encourage Arts Education among students with the staging of a production that incorporates dance, drama and music.
Curriculum Specialist for Music Petrolina Deterville told the GIS the first attempt was made last year with the staging of “Tin Day” that involved at least 50 students mainly from primary Schools.
This year's production targets mainly secondary school students and according to Deterville it will be called “ Masquerade Master” - a musical comedy.
“ It is a comedy and there is a lot of laughter. Students themselves have created some of the scenes, at least three of the scenes and some of the choreography and it was refined by Richard Ambrose and will also be refined again by Trevor King. So the students are involved, its an educational activity where the students are learning out of the classroom and then they are going to end up with this special production,” Deterville. said
The production will be staged for the public and for students as well when school reopens.
